About Dr. Erin Nelson
Dr. Erin Nelson, DPM, FACFAS, CWSP, FAENS is the founder of Foot and Ankle Specialists of Ames, Iowa. She is a native Iowan and grew up in Dubuque. Dr. Nelson completed her undergraduate degree in biology from the University of Northern Iowa, and went to Des Moines University for medical school. After completing a residency at St. John North Shores in Harrison Township in Michigan she and her family returned to Iowa. She practiced at the McFarrland Clinic for 8 years and then returned to Des Moines University for 3 years where she served as an assistant professor and was the Clinical Chair of the DMU Foot and Ankle Clinic. She continues as part-time faculty. Dr. Nelson is board certified in foot and ankle surgery ad wound care. She is a fellow of the American Association of Extremity Nerve Surgeons and has a special focus in treating nerve pain.
